Schema is a structured description of a page's content. It can help search engines understand a business, a service, or an article. It does not replace a useful page or guarantee an AI citation. Google explicitly says its generative AI features do not require special schema.org markup. Start with a clear answer, support it with evidence, and use schema to describe what is actually there.
SEO, AEO, and GEO share the same foundations
SEO addresses search discovery, AEO focuses on useful answers, and GEO concerns visibility in generated responses. In practice, a business needs accessible pages that explain its services and the decisions customers face. A direct answer should come before supporting detail. Examples, limitations, and relevant source links help a reader decide whether the answer applies to them.
Use a connected graph with stable identifiers
JSON-LD is a way to publish structured data in a page. An @graph can contain several related entities, each with a stable @id. On this site, the Organization represents Inspire MC, WebSite represents the site, WebPage represents an individual URL, and Service or Article describes its main content. References connect a service to its provider and an article to its author and publisher. This is an implementation choice for consistency, not a special AI ranking requirement.
Match each type to the thing it describes
An agency's marketing service is a Service. Its legal-marketing division is still an Organization, not a LegalService representing a law practice. An article and the webpage carrying it get separate identifiers. BreadcrumbList describes a visible navigation path. The name, description, dates, and author information should agree with what a reader sees. Markup should not invent an office, a review, a credential, or an outcome.
Make an answer worth referencing
Explain the actual decision, not just a definition. For an SEO engagement, useful details include what gets audited, how pages are prioritized, what counts as an inquiry, and what remains outside the agency's control. Link relevant case studies with their scope and qualifications intact. A page becomes more useful when it helps a buyer assess a concrete situation, even if they never contact you.
Add local context where it changes the answer
A business in Pasadena may need different target services and competition research from one seeking customers across Los Angeles. Explain the actual market, service scope, and meeting or delivery arrangements. A useful regional resource can support several nearby communities. Separate city pages are warranted when they have distinct substance, not simply because the city is a keyword.
Verify implementation and measure outcomes
Check that pages load, canonical URLs resolve, internal links work, and the JSON-LD parses with consistent references. Then observe search performance and a fixed set of AI questions over time. Record mentions separately from linked citations and website inquiries. Passing a markup check confirms implementation; it does not prove that a search engine indexed the page or selected it for an answer.
